Bethpage Black Golf Course
2nd Hole
The second hole on Bethpage Black is a par four that plays 389 yards from the back tees, and is the shortest par four on the course. Some criticize this hole as being bland, however it is far from this. The tee shot requires some degree of a draw to a very narrow and curving fairway, which is slanted from right to left and guarded by trees on both sides. It is one of the hardest fairways to hit because of the tightness, so it is more advisable to go with something less than a driver, if you can afford giving up a bit of distance. The approach is to an elevated green which lies some 20 feet above the fairway, and the green is one of the flattest on the course. Two bunkers guard the green, however the left should not come into play for the skilled player, and right bunker should only affect the line of play if the pin is on the right half of the green and player has drove the ball down the right side. Therefore, a tee shot favoring the left side is more beneficial on this hole.
